A new adventure…
I might be crazy, but after years of working in a good-paying job with great benefits and people, I’ve been yearning for growth, and I’m leaving it all behind. Trading in my fluorescent-lit, air-conditioned cubicle for a job teaching English a world away in hot, sticky Indonesia.
I turned 30 this month, and what better time to start a new adventure? So, here it is… My husband and I are selling most of our belongings, giving our beloved kitties to some friends, and leaving all the people we care about behind. There are sure to be many tests of my patience and understanding during this adventure. I’ll be sure to post them here, as I know that some of you reading this are living vicariously through me. I hope I’ll be able to offer some laughter as you sit in your comfortable office, and read of my wanderings. I’ll update this as often as I’m able. For now, I’ll leave you with a quote that sums up my current feelings about this life-changing time.
“Attitude is the difference between an adventure and an ordeal”

Yay Denise! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
This is going to be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced! But maybe the greatest adventure of your life.
Billy
I am so proud of you being brave. I hope that we get a chance to visit you while you are living in your next home. Take care
Congrats to you on the decision to try something new! I’m also 30, traveling, and still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. If you have any great inspiration in Indonesia, do share!
I am so excited that you and Billy are taking the plunge! You will build the kind of memories that last a life-time. What language do the people in Bandung speak, Indonesian?
have a fantastic journey – keep in touch and let us know when you return! all the best, Travis and Jesse
I’m so excited for you Denise! May you have the best of experiences in your new adventure!
Ok…I have taken more than the ‘correct/appropriate’ amount of time of mourning before making this statement….
You should know that I will miss you more than any ‘warm & sunny’ day…but less than the best gravel road I can find. Now, having said all that…my best prayers to guide both you & Billy on this fabulous adventure. Take many pictures…keep your blog updated & keep in touch. Peace. ROCK ON !!
How are you going to call me out like that?
LOL!! I hope all is well and we miss you around the office
